Source steel from Turkey — B2B wholesale

Turkey exported $33bn of iron and steel in 2024. Kacmazsa lists verified steel and steel-article lots with mill certificates, EUR.1/A.TR documentation, and CBAM guidance built in. For European steel service centres, distributors and manufacturers.

The supply

Major mills, verified origin

  • Major Turkish mills: İsdemir (İskenderun), Erdemir (Ereğli), Kardemir (Karabük), Çolakoğlu and Hattat — all major long and flat product producers with internationally recognised mill certifications.
  • Products available: rebar (HS 7214), wire rod (HS 7213), hot-rolled coil and sheet (HS 7209/7210/7211), cold-rolled coil (HS 7209), structural sections (HS 7216), mattress springs and steel articles (HS 7320).
  • Mill certificates: traceable origin is standard practice in Turkish steel. Kacmazsa requires a mill certificate on file — including heat number, chemical composition and mechanical properties — for every steel lot before listing.
  • CBAM: the definitive period began 1 January 2026. Steel importers into the EU must declare embedded carbon content and surrender CBAM certificates. Kacmazsa's landed-cost engine flags CBAM exposure and provides category-level guidance in the Lot Passport.
Regulatory

CBAM for steel imports — what you need to know

CBAM applies to steel (HS 72/73) from 1 January 2026
  • Steel lots sourced via Kacmazsa will include CBAM status — embedded carbon data and declarant guidance — in the Lot Passport.
  • EU-based importers must register as CBAM declarants with their national competent authority before importing covered goods.
  • Importers must report the embedded carbon content (direct + indirect emissions where applicable) and surrender CBAM certificates proportional to that carbon.
  • Turkey's major steel mills — İsdemir, Erdemir, Kardemir — have published embedded carbon data. Kacmazsa sources this data for listed lots where available.
  • Kacmazsa can connect buyers with customs brokers experienced in CBAM declarations as part of the order workflow.

See Compliance reference → for full CBAM guidance and declarant registration steps.

Lot types

What Kacmazsa lists

Mill surplus and overrun

Excess production from mill scheduling — current grade, full mill cert, standard dimensions. Mill certificates and heat traceability on file. Priced to clear throughput, not for quality reasons.

Cancelled-order lots

Steel produced to a buyer's specification but not collected. Complete coils, cut-to-length sheet or bundled sections — original spec, ready to ship. Deeply discounted against spot.

End-of-grade stock

Final stock of a discontinued grade or dimension from a mill's rolling programme. Full mill documentation. Suitable for buyers who can use the exact spec, at a significant discount.

How it works

The Kacmazsa workflow for steel buyers

  1. Submit sourcing brief

Specify product type (rebar, coil, sheet, sections, etc.), grade, dimensions, quantity (tonnes), Incoterm and destination. The desk replies within one business day with initial availability.

  2. Lot shortlist

Kacmazsa sends 2–3 matching lots with Lot Passports including mill certificate summary, CBAM status, embedded carbon data (where available) and FOB or CPT pricing.

  3. Reserve + inspection

A 10% reserve locks the lot. SGS or QIMA conducts pre-shipment QC — dimensional conformance, surface condition, packing, weight verification and container/truck loading supervision. Inspection report released before payment.

  4. EUR.1 + documents

EUR.1 movement certificate or origin statement for UK buyers (0% duty under UK-Türkiye FTA); A.TR for EU Customs Union duty-free entry; full mill certificate; commercial invoice and packing list; CBAM-related embedded carbon documentation.

  5. Payment release

70% released after passed inspection and loaded vessel or truck. 20% after confirmed receipt. Reserve (10%) applied to first milestone payment.

Documentation

Documents for steel imports

  • Mill certificate — heat number, chemical composition (C, Mn, Si, P, S and alloy elements), mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, elongation). Required for all Kacmazsa-listed steel lots.
  • EUR.1 or origin statement — Turkish origin, enabling 0% UK duty under the UK-Türkiye FTA. Issued against mill certificate and manufacturing evidence.
  • A.TR movement certificate — for EU Customs Union duty-free entry. Confirms goods are in free circulation in Türkiye.
  • Commercial invoice + packing list — EUR or USD denomination; weight, dimensions, HS code, unit pricing and total lot value declared.
  • Freight documentation — Bill of Lading (sea), CMR (road) or AWB (air) depending on mode. Container seal photos included.
  • CBAM documentation — embedded carbon data (tCO₂e per tonne of product), declarant reference, and customs broker contact for EU importers required to file CBAM declarations.

See Compliance reference → for full CBAM, EUR.1 and A.TR guidance.
